Here are some poems in loving memory of a loved one in Heaven:
1. Love You Forever
I sent you butterfly kisses
You don’t always know that I’m there
But it’s me peeking around the corner
or touching a strand of your hair.
I see you on days you are crying
or wishing we could talk once in a while
Even though I’m now in heaven
I still want to see you smile.
I visit at night when you’re sleeping
I come quietly into your dreams
And whisper words ever so softly
To say death is not what it seems.
I see you sometimes at the table
When you don’t know that I am there
As you gaze over at my picture
I hope you know how much I care.
I’m sending a hug from heaven
I wish you could feel it today
The love that we share is forever
Time and space can’t take it away.
2. Fly Little Wing
Fly, fly little wing
Fly beyond imagining
The softest cloud, the whitest dove
Upon the wind of heaven’s love
Past the planets and the stars
Leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain
And fly again
Fly, fly precious one
Your endless journey has begun
Take your gentle happiness
Far too beautiful for this
Cross over to the other shore
There is peace forevermore
But hold this memory bittersweet
Until we meet
Fly, fly do not fear
Don’t waste a breath, don’t shed a tear
Your heart is pure, your soul is free
Be on your way, don’t wait for me
Above the universe you’ll climb
On beyond the hands of time
The moon will rise, the sun will set
But I won’t forget
Fly, fly little wing
Fly where only angels sing
Fly away, the time is right
Go now, find the light
3. If I Had Wings To Fly
Purple rain is falling to grounds below
Freezing winds turned rain into cold blue snow.
Parting clouds exposes the yellow gleaming sun,
With technicolor pictures of a rainbow run.
If I could grow angel wings before the day I die,
I’d fly over the rainbow, painted in the sky.
Fly the reflected way, through it’s sparkled spheres,
Capture God’s rainbow, before it disappears.
I want to capture what I see, keeping in my heart,
Liveliness and keepsakes, God’s gallery of art.
The falling of the cold blue snow and the purple rain,
The yellow sun producing a sight to entertain.
If God would grant me wishes to scout above on high,
Somewhere over the rainbow, with wings I would fly.
4. The worst type of crying is the
silent one. The one when
everyone is asleep. The one
where you feel it in your throat,
and your eyes become blurry
from the tears. The one where
you just want to scream. The one
where you have to hold your
breath and grab your stomach to
keep quiet. The one where you
can t breath anymore. The one
when you realize the person that
meant the most to you, is gone.
