Here are some poems in loving memory of a loved one in Heaven:
1. I cannot stop the teardrops
I cannot stop the pain
I know I may be selfish
But I want you back again.
So much left unsaid
So much left to do
I had so many plans
Plans for me and you.
But in God’s hands you are
One day we will be together
For the love, I have for you
Is the kind that lasts forever.
2. I would rather have a little rose
from the garden of a friend,
Than have the choicest flowers
When my stay on earth shall end.
I would rather have the kindest words
And a smile that I can see,
Than flattery when my heart is still
And this life ceased to be.
I would rather have a loving smile
From the friends I know are true,
Than tears shed around my casket
When the world I bid adieu.
3. I think no matter where you stray
That I shall go with you a way.
Though you may wander sweeter lands
You will not, forget my hands.
Nor yet the way I held my head
Nor the tremulous things I said.
You will still see me,
And smiling, in the secret night.
And feel my arms about you when
The day comes fluttering back again.
I think, no matter where you be
You’ll hold me in your memory.
And keep my image there without me
By telling later loves about me.
4. There comes a time for all of us
when we must say good-bye,
But faith and hope and love
and trust can never, never die.
Although the curtain falls at last
is that a cause to grieve?
The future’s fairer than the past
if only we believe
And trust in God’s eternal care
So when the Master calls
let’s say that life is still more fair
although the curtain falls.
5. I Never Will Lose You
You held my hand a little while
But hold my heart forever
No time or distance ever could
That sweet connection sever
God sent you to me for a time
To love with all my heart
Your spirit now lives on in me
Though we are now apart
So when I’m feeling down or blue
And thoughts are turning sad
I think back on the days we shared
And good times that we’ve had
I know love’s an eternal thing
No earthly bonds control
I know that I can’t lose someone
Whose life has touched my soul
So while we find ourselves apart
Until my time here’s through
I’ll never loose the love we shared
I never will lose you
6. She passed away like morning dew
before the sun was high ..
So brief her time, she scarcely knew
the meaning of a sigh.
As round the rose its soft perfume
sweet love around her floated ..
Admired she grew-while mortal doom
crept on, unfeared, unnoted.
Love was her guardian Angel here
but Love to Death resigned her ..
Though Love was kind, why should we fear
but holy Death is kinder?
