Here are some poems in loving memory of a loved one in Heaven:
1. In Memory Of A Loved One
To lose someone I loved so much
brings pain beyond belief
there are no words to ease my pain
my sadness and my grief
I feel I’ve lost someone so close
so wonderful and dear
I think about your special ways
and wish that you were near
But although you have left this world
you’ll stay within my heart
guiding like an angel
even though we are apart
For love is everlasting
and so are my memories-
your legacy that’s always there
to light the way for me
2. Safe God’s Keeping
I am Home in Heaven, dear ones,
Oh! so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this Everlasting Light.
All the pain and grief are over,
Every restless yearning past;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely Home in Heaven at last.
Dear ones, do not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,
Pray to trust Our Father’s Will.
When your work is all completed
He will gently call you Home,
Oh! the rapture of that meeting!
Oh! the joy to see you come!
3. There is a empty chair
and it is hard for me to
believe that you will never again sit there.
My heart will always grieve.
but I know my tears are less for you and
more for me.
Your pain is gone and your soul flies free.
And I know a part of you
is still here with me.
Deep in my soul where only
I can see… There is my Love
for you and your Love for me.
4. Locked up inside my heart
At my own beck and call
Lives all the beauty, joy and love
You brought into my world
Memories to treasure
Moments that delight
Their value is beyond measure
A testament to your life
They are there for me to unpack
And rummage through each day
They bring smiles and comfort
And often tears along the way
But they are there whenever I need them
Morning, noon or night
And in my heart is where they’ll stay
Until our reunion day
5. Just One Day
If I could come back for just one day
I know exactly what I would say
To my family and friends and those who I loved
As a message from God who speaks from above.
I would say it’s okay to be sad for a awhile
But what I really want most is to see your smile,
And for you to go on and live once again-
Allowing the Lord to comfort your pain.
I know that you loved me with all of your heart
And that none of you wanted for me to depart.
I don’t quite understand it myself
But I know you’ll get by with a little help.
Yes, I would say to be sad for a day
And to do what you need to do.
And then lift up your eyes
to the wonder of the sky
And know that I loved you too.
