Here are some poems in loving memory of a loved one in Heaven:
1. Fly Little Wing
Fly, fly little wing
Fly beyond imagining
The softest cloud, the whitest dove
Upon the wind of heaven’s love
Past the planets and the stars
Leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain
And fly again.
Fly, fly precious one
Your endless journey has begun
Take your gentle happiness
Far too beautiful for this
Cross over to the other shore
There is peace forevermore
But hold this memory bittersweet
Until we meet.
Fly, fly do not fear
Don’t waste a breath, don’t shed a tear
Your heart is pure, your soul is free
Be on your way, don’t wait for me
Above the universe you’ll climb
On beyond the hands of time
The moon will rise, the sun will set
But I won’t forget
Fly, fly little wing
Fly where only angels sing
Fly away, the time is right
Go now, find the light.
Signs from your loved ones
are a blessing, indeed
they seem to appear
in your hour of need.
You may not realize it
but your angels are around
when you least expect signs
they seem to be found.
You miss your special angels
and wish they were here
but there is comfort in
knowing that they’re always near.
3. As Long As I Can
As long as I can I will look at
this world for both of us.
As long as I can I will sing with
birds, I will smell the flowers, and
I will pray to the stars.
As long as I can, I will remember
how many things on this earth
were your joy.
I will live as well as you would
want me to live…
As Long As I Can
4. For Just a moment
I’m sure I saw
a flicker of light ahead.
Perhaps it was your smile.
Though past now, remembered,
in my heart
like the small sound of
a butterfly passing by.
No night is so dark
that can not be brightened
with memories of you.
Raindrops carry along
your blessings from heaven
to wash away my tears
and bring me hope anew.
5. My Heart Is Torn
Losing someone dear to death,
can make you feel a total wreck
Moment by moment you tend to fear
seems like no one should be near
We shut the door on mankind
feeling so lost and left behind
Sincere condolences is hard to take
We are beside ourselves; We need a break
No ill intentions; this is not how we feel
Too much thoughts; so hard to deal
Time has past so ever fast
Where did it go? It sure didn’t last
My heart is torn; this pain feels forevermore
Life isn’t here for me; I’m feeling so scorn
I need this time to sort things out
Don’t you worry. I’ll be out and about
I know you love me and want me well
It will happen, give me time to dwell
In this utter thoughts I need to release
I will find my gracious inner peace
