Here are some poems in loving memory of a loved one in Heaven:
1. While Waiting For Thee
Don’t weep at my grave
For I am not there
I’ve a date with a butterfly
To dance in the air.
I’ll be singing in the sunshine
Wild and free
Playing tag with the wind
While I’m waiting for thee.
The comfort and sweetness of peace
After the clouds, the sunshine
after the winter, the spring
after the shower, the rainbow
for life is a changeable thing.
After the night, the morning
bidding all darkness cease
after life’s cares and sorrows
the comfort and sweetness of peace.
2. Love Can Never Die
One must go and one be left
The lonely road to tread
There comes a day when all must face
The path that lies ahead
Knowing that the best is over
With a loved one gone
There seems no point in going on
But time is kind, the passing years
Their balm of healing bring
And like a bird at winter’s end
The heart begins to sing
We come at last to realize
Death breaks the earthly tie
But love survives when grief has passed
FOR LOVE CAN NEVER DIE!
3. Do not think that I don’t feel
because you see no tears
A river rages deep inside
of grief, and loss, and fears.
Just because I don’t cry now
don’t think my heart’s not broken
I keep inside the misery
of words not to be spoken.
Sometimes I smile, or crack a joke
so you won’t see the pain
or notice how my hands will shake
or how I’ve gone insane.
For each time I chance to think
my heart is torn in two
The loss I feel is mine alone.
but it’s just hidden from view.
4. We feel so sad when those we love
Are touched by death’s dark hand ..
But it would ease our sorrow
If we could but understand.
That death is just a gateway
That all men must pass through ..
And on the other side of death
In a world that’s bright and new.
Our loved ones wait to welcome us
To that land free from all tears ..
Where joy becomes eternal
And time not counted by years.
5. There’s a place I’ve never seen
beyond this world we know ..
A place I’ve only heard of
But someday hope to go.
It’s not on any map
there are no roads to take me there ..
But it’s a place of perfect peace
where hearts are free from care.
And though I understand some
may be saddened when I leave ..
one day we will all meet again
that’s what I believe.
When it’s time to travel there
I think I’ll wear a smile ..
I’ll say goodbye to those I love
but only for a while.
Knowing there are others who
have traveled there alone ..
who cannot wait to greet me and
to whisper “Welcome home”.
